Next, we’ll visit the imposing Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which encloses the imperial city of the Mughal rulers within its 2.5-kilometer-long walls. This fortified complex is home to enchanting palaces, including the Jahangir Palace and the Khas Mahal, as well as audience halls like the Diwan-i-Khas, and two beautiful mosques. As the evening unfolds, we’ll have free time to engage in personal activities, shopping, and relaxation.
The night will be spent at the hotel, recharging for the next day’s adventures.
Agra / Jaipur (240 Kms / 4 Hrs)
In the morning, we’ll begin with a breathtaking sunrise visit to the iconic Taj Mahal. Following breakfast, we’ll embark on a journey to Jaipur, famously known as the Pink City, founded by Maharaja Jai Singh II. This meticulously planned city was constructed according to the ancient Hindu architectural principles outlined in the Shilpa-Shastra treatise.
Along the way, we’ll stop at Fatehpur Sikri, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most well-preserved ghost towns in the world. This magnificent walled city was built by Akbar in the 16th century, only to be abandoned 14 years later, leaving its elegant structures intact to this day.
Further on, we’ll visit the ancient Chand Baori stepwell, built over 1,000 years ago in the Rajasthan village of Abhaneri. As one of the largest and most stunning stepwells globally, it’s a hidden gem that remains off the beaten path. Constructed by King Chanda in the 9th century, this remarkable landmark is waiting to be discovered. After exploring Chand Baori, we’ll proceed to Jaipur, where we’ll check-in to our hotel upon arrival.
Jaipur Sightseeing
Our day begins with breakfast, followed by a scenic exploration of Jaipur’s majestic landmarks. We’ll ride a decorated elephant up to the imposing Amber Fort, a dramatic hilltop fortress, and take in its breathtaking views. On our return, we’ll stop by the stunning Hawa Mahal, also known as the Palace of the Winds, a lavish building adorned with intricate screens and carved balconies. From these ornate windows, royal ladies once caught glimpses of the outside world.
After lunch, we’ll delve into the City Palace, a unique blend of Mughal and Hindu architectural styles, now partially converted into a museum. Here, we’ll discover an impressive collection of paintings, Rajput armory, and regal costumes. The rest of the afternoon is free to explore the city at leisure, where we can indulge in Jaipur’s famous shopping scene, featuring an array of gemstones, silver jewelry, paintings, blue pottery, and hand-printed textiles.
Finally, we’ll visit the renowned Jaipur Observatory, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of India’s most preserved and significant historic observatories. This ancient monument showcases the exceptional astronomical skills and cosmological knowledge of the Mughal period’s scholarly princes. We’ll retire to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Galta ji temple and drive to Delhi (260 Kms / 4-5 Hrs)
Following breakfast, depart for a visit to the renowned Monkey Temple, also known as Galta Ji, situated 10 kilometers east of Jaipur. This Hindu temple complex has gained popularity among tourists, primarily due to its inhabitance of a large monkey colony.
What sets Galta Ji apart from other Hindu temples is its unique feature – a natural spring that supplies seven expansive pools, where devotees come to cleanse themselves of their transgressions. Interestingly, the mischievous monkeys have been known to take a dip in the sacred waters during moments of tranquility. Upon conclusion of the visit, proceed to Delhi, where you will be dropped off at the airport or your hotel.
